“Not all CBD gummies are created equal” reads the Pure Craft product description of their Nano CBD Infused Vegan Broad Spectrum Gummies. This statement is a clear allusion to Thomas Jeffersons’ decry in the 1776 Declaration of Independence that, “all men are created equal.” This risky and provocative marketing tactic highlights the brashness CBD companies have adopted to differentiate their brands and products from the ever-growing market.

Limited testing and regulations on CBD products have resulted in an over saturation of the market. Every new CBD brand claims to be the most effective at isolating pain, the longest lasting and the most pure. But as consumers, how are we to know?

CBD businesses that provide a certificate of analysis (COA) are typically the most credible. That’s because an accredited third-party laboratory tests their products. COAs give consumers like me the ability to confirm whether or not the product contains the cannabinoids it claims.

However, if companies do not make this this information available to consumers, it raises the question, “why?” If it’s the best, why can consumers only access it ‘upon request?’

This week I put the anecdote that, “not all CBD gummies are created equal” to the test. Pure Craft is one of the most vocal and seemingly transparent CBD brands I’ve researched to date. So I was excited when I had the opportunity to review their Pure Craft’s Nano CBD Infused Vegan Broad Spectrum Gummies.

Who are we Workin’ With?

Pure Craft CBD is an online company launched by Jason Navarrete, an 18-year veteran of the cannabis industry. In the About Jason Navarette subsection of the Pure Craft website, Navarrete states that his products are the purest and best on the market.

Navarette credits his success to his methodical process, by which Pure Craft never cuts corners during production or uses inferior hemp biomass. Hemp biomass is the renewable organic material (primarily stalks and leaves) left after harvest. Upon review of their product list it becomes clear — Navarette’s business model is as transparent and forthright as it gets.

Pure Craft organically grows, manufactures, and processes their products in the U.S. They company uses the strictest guidelines and quality control measures to process its products. Each product is FDA registered, not to be confused with FDA approved. This means the agency is aware of the manufacturer and it’s devices but they haven’t been clinically approved. Subsequently, products are processed and passed through Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant facilities to assure they are pharmaceutical grade.

Pure Craft handcrafts their Nano CBD Infused Vegan Broad Spectrum Gummies and infuses them with nano-optimized, broad-spectrum CBD. This means two things.

First, nano-optimized CBD is a CBD molecule that is coated with small particles, such as liposomes or lipid nanoparticles, that stabilize the CBD and maximize its effectiveness. The stabilized CBD is then able to move more quickly through the bloodstream than ‘naked’ forms of CBD.

Secondly, the broad-spectrum designation signifies that the CBD formula Pure Craft infuses into its gummies contains a cocktail of the terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids derived from the original hemp plant. However, the THC is removed. This differs from full-spectrum products, which contain all compounds naturally found in a cannabis plant, including THC.

The downloadable COA for this product is conclusive. Although each gummy is marketed as 25 mg of CBD, the testing proves it has 22.3 mg. Is the marketing accurate? Not entirely. However, is the missing 2.7 mg of CBD a substantial amount? No. For the new or average CBD consumer there would be little-to-no discernible difference. In fact, after a recent independent study on CBD-infused beverages revealed discrepancies in messaging vs. positioning, the designation for what was “acceptable” was a -/+10% CBD margin.

While the product’s COA cannot confirm if the gummies contain terpenes or flavonoids, it does reveal that there are no other cannabinoids, aside from CBD. Therefore, I hesitate to say this is actually a broad-spectrum product.

One Week Trial of Pure Craft Nano CBD Gummies

I’ve explored a variety of different CBD-infused products, yet the Pure Craft CBD Gummies were the first product/supplement I’ve taken consistently over the course of a week. Because the suggested dosage is one or two gummies daily, for the sake of my review, I took one in the morning and one in the afternoon, everyday for a week.

The packaging is small but solid. The container fastened tightly, preserving the gummies freshness. The assorted fruit flavors are pretty fruity and pleasant but I wasn’t able to differentiate the flavor profiles. The consistency is firm to the touch but easy to chew. For all intents and purposes, they taste and feel like your everyday gummy vitamin, despite being vegan. Something I really enjoyed about the gummies was the added cane sugar coating which catered to my sweet tooth.

I’d say overall my experience taking the gummies was positive. One 25mg (22.3mg) gummy isn’t going to cure your ailing aches and pains. Nor will it remove your anxiety. But it does provide you with moderate relief. That said, I felt reduced body pains and subtle relief after each dosage. Perhaps if I had taken two at once, I would have felt more of the relief I was hoping for. But it certainly would not have lasted throughout the entire day.

After a week, these were helpful. I’d say that if you’re looking for a low-dosage daily relief vitamin, the gummies are a great option. The aspect of this trial that I was most critical of was the cost. Vitamins and supplements tend to be on the more expensive side of the market. But $55 for 30 individual doses is steep.
