2021 may be the year that you have big plans.

While it is understandable that things feel a little different at the moment because of the global pandemic we find ourselves in, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have big dreams for when things get back to normal.

A big dream for many is to move houses, but more specifically to relocate to a different country. The adventures it could bring, the opportunities it could present, it is all very appealing.

However, how do you make sure that this can happen?

What do you need to think about to make the relocation dream a reality? There are a few things you need to think about when it comes to this goal.

There is where to live, what to do when you get there and how to make the move possible. With that in mind, here is a breakdown of some of the things to think about to help you get started.

Where to relocate?

You may be considering relocating for many different reasons. For some, it’s to do with work opportunities or changes. For others, it’s about the quality of life.

It can be a really exciting adventure to relocate yourself and your family to a new city, a far cry from where you live now.

For many, it’s something they would like to experience at least once in their lives. But one of the big questions is where?

Perhaps you already know, or maybe you need a little inspiration. So let’s start by sharing some of the most liveable places in the world.

Perhaps one of them will be added to your list to research and consider.

Melbourne

Melbourne has sat at the top of the list of most livable cities for a few years now. This is down to the quality of life the local people get to live.

The city itself sits on the picturesque Yarra River. Which is an excellent promotion for water sports, and iconic river cruises taking in the beautiful city.

But it also has an array of architecture around every corner. Winding pedestrian lanes, an excellent music scene and a celebration of other performing arts.

There are many different housing options, and buying in Melbourne is easier than you may believe.

Vienna

You may want to consider a different type of city completely. Why not head to Vienna, Austria’s capital?

Vienna is well-known for its quality of life, for the last five years it has been ranked second after Melbourne. This is where they take into consideration safety, crime rates as well as opportunities in the city.

It is regarded as the city of music and would offer a slower-paced life without losing the buzz of a city environment. You could consider a lovely picturesque apartment, giving you views over the beautiful city landscape.

Vancouver

Regularly voted in the top five of the most livable cities in the world, Vancouver, officially known as the City Of Vancouver in Canada is one place you should consider.

It’s expansive and is the most populous city in Canada. It sits on the United States Of America border. It has been known to provide excellent opportunities.

You will find many museums and a great music scene in the city. If you were looking for a place to live you could look outside the city and have something that is more countryfied.

Auckland

You will find the city of Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand. It is the largest and most populous urban area in the country.

It is classed as more of a rural city than anywhere else and also has a rugged coastline in the region. It has a mild climate, with many work opportunities and an excellent educational system.

You may want to consider living further out, as 90% of Aucklanders live in urban areas. Meaning you should get more for you money by venturing a bit further out.

What to think about when it comes to making it happen?

Once you have an idea of where you might want to relocate to, the next thing to think about would be how you can make it happen.

There are a few things that you will need to consider to help you make the right steps. So here are a few things to start you off that could help you on your way to relocating sooner rather than later.

Do you have a property to sell?

One of the first things to think about is if you have a property to sell. Perhaps a lot of your money is tied up in this property so you need to think about selling up so you can understand your budget.

Selling your home may take some time, so help yourself by getting your home ready for sale. Decorate it, declutter it, and price it right in terms of the current property market. This will help you on your way.

What is your budget?

Another thing to consider would be your budget for the move and also the property you might want to buy in your chosen location. Property prices may differ in different countries and there may also be different processes that you need to think about.

Of course, you may not even be buying straight away you might look at rentals instead. Whatever the situation is, think long and hard about your budget and also be realistic. You will also need to factor in the moving costs.

What will you take with you?

The next big decision to make is what you might take with you. Some people choose not to take anything other than a suitcase with clothes.

Others want to pack up their whole lives and take everything from the furniture to their cars. There are companies such as CarsArrive Auto Relocation that can help with that.

Some removal companies can ship your entire home contents, so there really is a lot to think about.

Do you need any permissions or specific visas?

Sometimes there are countries that will require you to get specific permissions and visas to enable you to access their country to work or to live.

So it is worth checking this out before you do anything so that you don’t get into any hot water or issues when you start the moving process.

What will you do when you get there?

Last of all, you need to think about what your plans might be for when you make the move. After all, you can’t make this big decision and part with lots of money to not know what the plan is for when you arrive.

It could be that you want to work over there. Maybe you have specific skills or experience that enables you to get a job fairly easily. Sometimes people want to make the move to experience a different lifestyle.

Perhaps one that will allow you to be outside more or enjoy the beach rather than being cooped up in a suburb or city that you are in now.

The more you think about how you want your life to be, the more motivated and determined you will be to make it happen. It could also help to incentivise you to take the right steps.

So there you have it. Hopefully, these tips and suggestions will help you to understand what is involved when it comes to having a goal to relocate.

Let’s hope this post helps you to make the dream of relocating a reality.
