What Are the Best Crystals for Each Chakra?

Did you know that your body is believed to have 88,000 chakras? If you’ve only heard of seven of them, though, don’t worry: the seven major chakras are the most important.

One way to get in touch with chakra healing is to support your practices with crystals. With the right crystals for each chakra, you can get more for your efforts. The idea behind using chakra stones is that the right stone can help bring balance to that chakra.

When it comes to choosing crystals for chakras, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Your personal resonance with a stone can make the right stones for your chakras different from somebody else’s. However, a few recommendations can help you get started with choosing the right crystals for the job.

Here’s what you need to know to choose the best crystals for each chakra!

Why You Should Use Crystals for Chakras

Chakras are thought to be centers of energy in the body. When your chakras are balanced, those energy centers remain open and move freely. But when your chakras fall out of balance, the energy can become slow, dirty, and misshapen. You might feel these effects mentally, physically, and emotionally.

The word “chakra” actually means “wheel” in Sanskrit. So, you can think of your chakras as spinning wheels when they are functioning properly. Those “wheels” spin too slow, too fast, or off-balance when your chakras are out of alignment.

Negative thoughts and feelings, stress, fear, and many other factors can make your chakras fall out of balance. Our chakras can shut down over time, becoming closed off, and they will stay that way if we don’t do the work of opening them back up and bringing them into balance.

There are many methods for chakra healing, but crystals can play an important role in that healing process. Crystals are believed to have metaphysical vibrational frequencies, as are the chakras. Choosing crystals that match the ideal frequencies of your chakras can bring that energy back into balance.

The Best Crystals for Each Chakra

So, how do you choose the right crystal for each chakra?

While it’s largely a personal choice, some guidelines can help you. For example, a good place to start is by matching the crystal color with the color that represents that chakra. Here are a few stones to consider for each of your chakras.

Root Chakra

The root chakra, associated with the color red, is located at the base of your spine.

This stabilizing chakra could be considered the “foundation” chakra. It has to do with feelings of security and stability. It’s linked to your most primal needs, like food, shelter, and feeling safe.

To connect with this chakra, consider crystals in red hues. Look for red jasper, garnet, and red tiger’s eye to start.

Sacral Chakra

Your next chakra is connected with the color orange. This chakra rests between your navel and pubic bone.

The sacral chakra governs your sexual and creative drives and energies. A well-aligned sacral chakra brings feelings of joy, pleasure, passion, and self-expression. A misaligned sacral chakra can block your creativity and cause sexual issues, or even depression.

Orange crystals are a good place to begin with the sacral chakra. These may include tiger’s eye, carnelian, or agate.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus chakra, connected with yellow, is in charge of self-esteem and individualism. When this chakra is aligned, you’ll have an easy time with willpower and commitment. But when it’s blocked, it can become hard to make decisions, avoid procrastination, or maintain a sense of self-control.

Yellow crystals like citrine, amber, and yellow quartz are great for healing this chakra.

Heart Chakra

Your heart chakra is represented by the color green. It’s in the center of the seven chakras, so it’s also considered a meeting point between the spiritual and physical.

As you might imagine, this chakra has to do with love, forgiveness, and spirituality. A well-balanced heart chakra keeps feelings of love and goodwill flowing. Anger, jealousy, and betrayal can become dominant when your heart chakra is out of line.

Green stones work well for the heart chakra, including emerald, peridot, and jade. However, pink is also linked to the heart chakra, and many people find success in using rose quartz to heal it.

Throat Chakra

The throat chakra governs communication and is associated with blue.

More than just communication, though, this chakra has to do with speaking your innermost truths. This chakra aids in speaking and self-expression, but also in listening. A blocked throat chakra can get in the way not just of communicating, but of focus.

Crystals like aquamarine and lapis lazuli connect well with this chakra. Although tanzanite color can vary, blue tanzanite also makes a good choice.

Third Eye Chakra

The third eye chakra is linked with the forehead area between your eyebrows. This chakra’s color is indigo, and it has to do with your intuition.

With your third eye chakra spinning healthily, you can correctly interpret the outside world. You won’t get fooled by illusions — you’ll see things as they really are. But with a closed-off third eye chakra, your intuition and inner voice will get cut off.

For this chakra’s healing, reach for sapphire, amethyst, or ametrine.

Crown Chakra

Lastly, your crown chakra is embodied by the color violet, and is located at the crown of the head.

This is the chakra of enlightenment, and helps connect you with the divine. When your crown chakra gets blocked, you might feel disconnected and alone.

Slightly different shades of stones like amethyst and ametrine work well for the crown chakra. Just make sure they’re closer to violet than indigo on the color spectrum. White or clear stones can also work for this chakra.

How to Use Chakra Stones

Ready to give these crystals for each chakra a try?

While these guidelines will get you started, don’t forget that picking the best crystals for chakras is ultimately a personal choice. Use the colors of the crystals to guide your choices, but remember to factor in your personal connection with each stone.
