Time for Some Nostalgia: 5 Pieces of 90s Technology

Here are a few things that were all the rage back in the 90s. How many of them do you remember?

1. The Game Boy

The Game Boy is a classic when it comes to gaming consoles. It might be outdated now with its bulky design, but it was definitely one of the coolest things that you could get back in the day.

Sure, it was chunky, but that didn’t take away from the gaming experience. If anything, everything was like then during the 90s. Monochrome Tetris, anyone?

2. Tamagotchis

Did you grow up in the 90s? If so, you must be familiar with Tamagotchis—they were everywhere! Egg-shaped virtual pets, they required you to feed, walk, and bathe them.

They were truly addictive. In fact, it got so bad that some schools had to ban them at one point. That’s right, people would skip class so that they could take care of their digital pets!

3. The Original iMac

The original iMac came out in 1998. What made them so cool? They were see-through and available in different colors.

What’s more, is that they combined the monitor and components in one case. As such, they didn’t require nearly as much space as other PC computers. On top of that, they came with USB ports—something that was not yet standard back then.

4. Boomboxes

Boomboxes were quite popular during the 80s and 90s. A type of portable music player, they came with a cassette tape and CD player, with two loudspeakers on the sides.

Not only that, but most of them also featured an AM/FM radio. In fact, many had radio recording capabilities. You can read more about the best CB radio antenna at Readyzeal.

5. Pagers

Cellphones weren’t that popular back then. How did people communicate with each other? With pagers—that is, small, handheld devices that allowed you to send and receive text and voice messages.

They weren’t free to use, though. You had to pay a regular fee that ranged anywhere from $10 to $50 per month.
