TradeWinds Island Resorts Plans New Expansion in St. Pete Beach With Vital Infrastructure Projects

TradeWinds Island Resorts is planning a new expansion at the Island Grand Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach with gorgeous amenities, community benefits and impeccable construction built to higher standards than local codes require.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. PETE BEACH, FLORIDA, {October 4, 2022} — TradeWinds Island Resorts is proposing a community-minded expansion to their Island Grand Beach Resort with upgrades for their guests and improvements to the St. Pete Beach community. The new additions not only add value for the business traveler or vacationing adults; they add even more attractions that make Island Grand Beach Resort a family-friendly resort. The resort already boasts family activities, including a floating water park with a water slide, catapult swing and monkey bar apparatus, a beachfront Zing Ray Zipline and a sea creature touch tank. The new plans include three pristine swimming pools with the addition of a Flowrider wave simulator creating ocean waves for surfers.

TradeWinds’ next-generation updates to their already iconic resort make the white sand beaches of St. Pete Beach even more accessible to visitors and local residents. Including the improvements to the St. Pete Beach area, TradeWinds Resorts is building on its 60-year presence in a popular Florida destination ranking in 2021 as TripAdvisor’s No. 1 Beach in the U.S.

  • On average, the new buildings are set back 180 ft from Gulf Boulevard
  • Wider, safer 10-foot sidewalks along Gulf Boulevard
  • Interior roadway to keep guests off Gulf Boulevard
  • Installing a multi-million dollar storm-water system to prevent flooding on Gulf Boulevard
  • New 30-foot wide, landscaped beach access and lighted walking path open to the public
  • Restricted vehicle access from 9 to 4 to reduce congestion on Gulf Boulevard
  • Additional parking garages are included to prevent crowding on Gulf Boulevard
  • The project plans also include accommodations for turtle migrations

TradeWinds Island Resorts created a website for its new venture and shared the company’s vision for the St. Pete Beach community. “TradeWinds Island Resorts is embarking on creating the Next Generation of an iconic resort that has been a staple in the community for over 60 years!”

The company is no stranger to community outreach and volunteerism, participating in events with local agencies such as Habitat for Humanity, Tampa Bay Watch, the Salvation Army, Feeding Tampa Bay and Academy Prep. Additional benefits besides the community amenities and improvements include 18,000 square feet of retail shops, 300 new permanent jobs and generating approximately $19 million of added annual tax revenue for city and government agencies. With conservancy in mind, TradeWinds Island Resorts assured their resort offered a small community footprint by limiting new guest rooms to 37% below what is permitted and an overall project density at just over the permitted allowance.

Other community considerations for the St. Pete Beach area include beautiful landscaping on Gulf Boulevard and around the new parking garages for an attractive public view. The new buildings are taking over unused surface parking lots that are unsightly and unkept, adding an aesthetic bonus to the property. All architecture includes interiors and exteriors created by the same architect who designed luxurious hotels such as Four Seasons and the Ritz Carlton donning an upscale and elegant look that makes TradeWinds Island Resorts easily recognizable.
