The fresh season of golf continues this week with the 2021-22 Farmers Open on Wednesday morning held at Torrey Pines in San Diego, CA. As with every event on the golf schedule, we’ve got three outright winner picks, ranging from one of the favorites to some mega value!

After picking Hideki Matsuyama to win the Sony Open two weeks ago at +2000 odds, we’re feeling good about going again with this week’s picks. And while I’m pumping up my own tires, you should know that two of my last 3 Dark Horse picks have finished in the Top-3, I’m speaking of Patrick Reed at the Hero World and Brian Harman at AmEx just last week.

That’s enough about me, so let’s look to this week’s Farmers Insurance Open and three guys that we like to win this week’s golf tournament, varying from one of the best chances, who still represents good value, down to some nice plays on a couple of stars that look set for big weeks at longer odds (see Reed and Harman)! We also show you the best sportsbook promos to play.

With crowds back and a host of big names out there, we’re set for an awesome four days of golf… and betting… in California! As we do each and every tournament, we provide you with our best golf picks for outright winner, as well as some in-play picks throughout.

Let’s get into our best bets for this week ⬇

Golf Picks: 2022 American Express

Top Pick – Jon Rahm

This may not be the bravest of picks, but Jon Rahm is the favorite to win this week for a number of valid reasons (mostly that he’s the best golfer in the world).

Rahm was upset with the course setup(s) at last week’s American Express, labelling it as a “piece of s**t f***ing setup, putting-contest week.”

Basically, the world number one was upset that the tee-to-green aspect of the tournament was basically rendered useless, with little punishment for less distance or accuracy.

Well, a course that certainly rewards golfers that are consistent all the way from the tee box to the hole is Torrey Pines.

This is the best field of the season so far (maybe barring the Tournament of Champions) and Rahm will be out assert himself as the best guy in it, especially showing those at last week’s event just what he can do in a course that puts everyone to the test.

By the way, he still finished at 14-under (T14) last week and shot a 67 on the day of his outburst about the setups!

Value Pick – Sam Burns

Okay, let’s look at Sam Burns’ run of results since the 2021-22 season began last year.

  • Sanderson Farms – 1st
  • Shriner’s Open – T14
  • CJ CUP – T5
  • Houston Open – T7
  • Hero World Challenge – T3
  • QBE Shootout – T2
  • Sentry TOC – T19

The man is on fire, period. Burns is up to 13th in the OWGR and is 4th in the early FedEx Cup standings.

After a couple of weeks off, Sam Burns should be coming into this one feeling refreshed and ready to go as he targets his second win of the young season.

Two key stats in which he is ranked highly in 2021-22 that should help in a big way this week are that he’s ranked 8th for shots gained: approach and 11th for greens in regulation percentage.

And just quietly, he is my One & Done pick this week! There’s still time to get involved with our season-long PGA picks contest here

Dark Horse – Jordan Spieth

If you’ve read any of these previews over the past year or two, then you’re not going to be surprised to see Jordan Spieth featuring here.

But seriously, +4000?! Yes please.

Jordan has only played in three events since the Ryder Cup victory in September, recording finishes of T18, 20th and T21. Very solid.

After a red-hot start to the 2021 calendar year, the product of the University of Texas slowed down a little bit but will definitely be eyeing off this year as the one he gets back to his absolute best and takes out his fourth career major.

And frankly, there’s not many better ways to get that run going than in a field like this, at course as famous as Torrey Pines, and just under 10 weeks out from the Masters.

Sprinkle some coin on Spieth at 40/1 and climb aboard for the ride that will no doubt follow this week!
