1. Launceston

On the banks of the Tamar River, the second-largest city in Tasmania is Launceston. This is the (friendly) rival city of Hobart, which is the state’s capital.

This city is small, but it has some nice colonial architecture and a hot food and arts scene. 

Most of the city is very pretty, and there are lots of trails that you can explore as well. There are also the Tamar Valley vineyards which are worth paying a visit to. 

2. Cairns

The city of Cairns is surrounded by rainforests and is specifically designed for tourists.

Once you get there, you’ll find a lot of tourists, but there are so many things that you will be able to see. 

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the main reasons people visit the city. You can get here by boat, and there are a few islands you can snorkel off of. 

3. Perth

Perth is probably one of the most isolated cities in the world, so if you want to really get away, this is the perfect city to do so. When you’re in Perth, the next closest city is over 1,300 miles away.

It will take some time to get to the city, but it’s definitely worth it.

The city has a laid-back vibe and has all kinds of cultural sites. The city is relatively clean, and there are lots of restaurants and cafes to try. There are also all kinds of beaches and things to do while you’re there. 

4. Melbourne

Melbourne is like a more laid-back version of Sydney. This is the second-largest city in Australia. This is a very cosmopolitan city, and you will have so many options to see and try.

The neighborhoods are very diverse, and you will be able to find one to fall in love with. 

The Great Ocean Road also goes through Melbourne, and the sites on that road are guaranteed to blow you away. 

5. Brisbane

Brisbane is a sparkling city and will have an abundance of sunshine to make sure that you have a nice, sunny vacation.

This is the third-largest city in the country, and about 2 million people call it home. The city is rapidly growing as well. 

The city is built along the Brisbane River, and the city offers all kinds of outdoor activities to keep you entertained.

You can go hiking, climbing, and biking in this city to really enjoy all of the views. If exercising isn’t really your thing, there are also lots of arts to keep you occupied. 

This is the music capital of the world, and there will be all kinds of local artists performing. 

6. Gold Coast

The Gold Coast isn’t necessarily one city but rather a collection of the coastline that stretches for 60 kilometers and offers some of Australia’s best beaches. 

This area is surrounded by mangroves and rainforests. If you want to do some surfing during the day and some night clubs at night, this is the area you should hit up. 

7. Adelaide

Adelaide is known as “the city of churches,” but the people who live here are convinced that there are actually more pubs than churches. 

If you plan on staying in this city, you can book one of these serviced apartments to make sure that you have the most comfortable stay in this laid-back city.

There are all kinds of unique restaurants to try and a lot of live music venues that you can check out. 

The city is built on the banks of the Torrens River which offers amazing and scenic views. This city is right in the middle of South Australia. It’s also home to the wine regions, and you have to try some of the local wines that they make. 

There are also all kinds of galleries and museums that you can check out. You’ll always be able to find something to do in this beautiful city. 

 

8. Darwin

Darwin is a small city, but it has a rich cultural heritage that is unique to the country. There are fifty different nationalities in this city, and it contains a lot of Asian and Aboriginal influences. 

This city is on the coast of the Timor Sea in the Northern Territory. Many people stop here and then go on to explore the Tiwi Islands. 

9. Geelong

This city is only 70 kilometers away from Melbourne. This city is also on Corio Bay, and tourists can find all kinds of shops and restaurants there.

This city may not be the prettiest, but it has an urban sprawl which makes it different from the other cities on this list.
