Port Charlotte Air Conditioning – (941) 629-2863

Other states may have these weird weather patterns called “seasons,” but we have things a bit simpler here in Florida. Namely, we have “hot” weather or “warm” weather, which makes air conditioning a pretty… hot commodity around here. (Sorry, but we had to.) Air conditioning is a key part of remaining comfortable throughout the year in the warm Florida climate. Unfortunately, that also means that your air conditioning system will wear down faster than if you lived in another part of the country.

If you’re looking for a new air conditioning system, whether you’re moving into a brand-new home or your old system can’t keep up with demand anymore, you have a number of different options to choose from. Each of these different system types has its own set of requirements and advantages, so it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with each of them before you have one installed in your home.

Port Charlotte Central Air Conditioning

The king of all air conditioning types. Central air conditioners have been around for quite a while, and the continue to dominate the cooling market in many parts of the country. This is because they’re relatively cheap, versatile, and most homes are already built to accommodate them. Central air conditioners will get the job done in a wide variety of situations. Unfortunately, however, they are not the best in terms of energy efficiency.

Port Charlotte Central Heat Pumps

A central heat pump is constructed very much like an air conditioner, but with a couple of important differences. First among these differences is that a central heat pump contains a part called a reversing valve. The reversing valve enables the system to act as either a heater or an air conditioner by reversing the direction that refrigerant flows through it. You may not think you really need a heater, but we have our cold days just like anybody else. There are just fewer of them, which is a perfect reason to get a heat pump. There isn’t much point to installing an entirely separate heater in your home if you are only going to use it a handful of days a year, right?

Port Charlotte Ductless Mini Splits

Ductless systems are heat pumps, but they eschew traditional ductwork in favor of smaller air handlers. One of these air handlers is installed in each part of the home that is to receive conditioning. Each air handler has its own thermostat, enabling it some degree of autonomy from the rest of the system. If you decide to install a ductless system in your home, know that there is a bit of construction that will likely need to be done. With all the advantages ductless systems offer, however, including energy efficiency and added comfort, it’s worth the added effort.
