4 Obvious Signs It Might BeTime For Divorce

If you’re feeling it might be time for a divorce but you aren’t sure, you are not alone. Keep reading to learn some of the signs when divorce may be in your best interest.

1. You’ve Lost Your Connection, and Yourself

Every relationship is made of compromises. The stronger your relationship is, the more you will grow with your partner and your relationship will stay balanced. Other times, you might find yourself growing apart, and losing touch with who you were at your core when your relationship began.

If your partner has changed, you might start growing apart instead of growing together. You might find yourself making more sacrifices than your partner, or making compromises that are beyond your comfort level. In an attempt to please your partner you may end up spending time doing things that you don’t find fulfilling and give you a sense of emptiness. This can lead to the feeling of “losing yourself.”

Your marriage may begin to feel like a business partnership, instead of a budding romantic relationship. Marriage can be incredibly lonely when you’ve lost who you are. If you feel this way, it might be time for a divorce.

2. You Have Lost Hope That Things Can Change

Relationships require work, and no relationship comes without issues. However, when you feel like you’ve exhausted all of the options available to resolve your problems it’s probably time to start thinking about ending your relationship.

You might find that you and your partner are always fighting, no matter how many times you try to talk, take vacations, or seek counseling. This can lead to the feeling of hopelessness and despair.

If you find yourself just trying to survive your marriage with little hope of change, it’s time to consider a divorce.

3. You Have Become Complacent With Unhappiness

If you have tried everything possible to try to resolve your unhappiness, you may have accepted that things might not ever get better.

When a relationship has more negatives than positives and you’re continually unhappy that’s a bad sign.  There are many different things that can cause this, but regardless of the cause, being chronically unhappy isn’t healthy. That’s no way to live and if you find you’re just accepting unhappiness as a way of life it’s likely time to end your marriage.

4. You Are Tired Of Pretending That Everything Is “OK”

We live in a time where it’s easy to become consumed with other people’s perceptions, especially when it comes to social media. If you are putting energy into maintaining a facade of a happy marriage when you’re really miserable you’re not doing yourself any favors. Your real friends and close family who care about your well-being will see through these lies.

Pretending things are okay when they really aren’t can become exhausting. It’s more important that you maintain your stability and health instead of “saving face.”

If everything is failing in your relationship, and you’re lying to your friends and family, it’s probably time to get out of your marriage.
