That might sound good but most people need something practical, not just fun. Let’s look at some of the other benefits of buying a Jeep beyond the fun factor.
1. Jeeps Are Versatile Vehicles
A Jeep is a versatile vehicle that is equally at home on a muddy off-road trail and the daily commute to work. They’ve got plenty of space for both cargo and passengers, with most models offering fold-down seats for even more flexibility.
2. Good Ride On and Off the Pavement
If you go back two or three decades, Jeeps weren’t known for their comfort. They were utilitarian vehicles intended more for off-road adventures than daily driving.
That’s changed in the last several years though. Modern Jeeps have suspension systems that offer a comfortable ride on city roads or highways while still maintaining the off-road abilities Jeep is famous for.
3. Jeeps Have Good Towing Capacity
If you need to transport more gear than you can fit in your Jeep or you want to pull a boat or travel trailer, you’ll have plenty of options.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can pull up to 3,500 pounds while the standard Wrangler can tow up to 2,000 pounds. With the off-road abilities of the Jeep, you’ll be able to pull a trailer into places you’d never get to with most other vehicles.
4. Parts and Maintenance Are Affordable
While modern Jeeps have a lot of high-tech features, they’re still easy to maintain. Parts are easy to find and once you find a great company that actually answers the phone when you call, it won’t have any trouble getting parts for your Jeep.
There are also a ton of aftermarket parts and accessories for Jeeps, letting you add all kinds of abilities to the stock setup.
5. There Are Not Many Alternatives When Buying a Jeep
How many vehicles can you think of that are comparable to a Jeep? Probably not very many. While there are plenty of SUVs on the market, there are very few vehicles quite like the Jeep.
Ford’s new Bronco and Toyota’s Land Cruiser are the only real competition but they don’t have nearly as much market share. That means parts, accessories, and maintenance could be harder to find.
6. Lots of Models to Choose From
We’ve mentioned the Jeep Wrangler in this article and that’s the model that springs to mind when most people think of a Jeep. The company makes plenty of others though.
The Cherokee, Grand Cherokee Patriot, and Compass are some of the other options to choose from. And even the Wrangler gives you the choice of a standard 2-door or Unlimited 4-door version.
Consider Making a Jeep Your Next Vehicle
If you’ve never owned a Jeep, you may not realize what you’re missing. If you’re in the market for a new vehicle, consider buying a Jeep or at least take one for a test drive to see if it’s the right choice for you.
