Milpitas, CA, June 12, 2023— Kerala Ayurveda USA is honored by Pharma Tech Outloook’s award as a Top Alternative Medicine Company 2023. In their February 2023 magazine,  Pharma Tech Outlook spoke with Kerala Ayurveda’s CEO and Academy Director, Vaidya. Jayarajan Kodikannath (BAMS, BSc) in an exclusive feature.

Vaidya. Jayarajan relocated from India to the U.S. in 2010 to support the growth of Ayurveda in the West after 20 years of clinical experience in India. It’s his prerogative to share the authentic Ayurvedic traditions as well as support the highest caliber of clinical training, to ensure Ayurvedic practitioners in the West are confident and capable to prevent and manage disease.

In 2020, Kerala Ayurveda launched an Ayurvedic herbal product division to bring the traditional herbal formulations to U.S.-based practitioners, with plans to reach a global audience. Kerala Ayurveda USA is a 100% subsidiary of Kerala Ayurveda Limited (KAL) in India, renowned for its breadth and quality of herbal products.

The award arrived just after KAL announced in December of 2022 their receipt of a patent from The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a uniquely prepared herbal formulation with established efficacy for the metabolic syndrome disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and lipid profile management.

“The formulation has been extensively studied through the rigors of modern scientific validation through Phytochemical & Marker Analysis, Extensive Preclinical at Renovel Discoveries Inc. in the United States, and pharma rigor double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study at the well-known Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in India,” explains Vaidya. Jayarajan.

The patent also covers the efficacy of the herbal composition in the management of metabolic syndrome disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and lipid profile management, as well as the use of the herbal composition in the preparation of food supplements, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals in suitable dosage forms such as beverages/liquids, capsules, tablets, granules, jellies, and so on.

KAL’s main goal with this invention was to establish Safety, Purity & Efficacy and also to provide a standardized process for preparing such an herbal composition, resulting in a standardized product with specifications that could indicate batch-to-batch consistency (in terms of certain specific active ingredient composition that are unique to the herbal blend and are believed to contribute to the efficacy of the formulations so prepared and developed).

The patent is a significant breakthrough to validate Kerala Ayurveda “Deep Roots, Modern Voice” ethos.
