Sure, Halloween is a time to stock up on all that candy you avoided throughout the year, but it’s also a great day to spend time with those you love. Whether you’re partying with friends, going out with your family or hanging out as a couple, nothing beats matching costumes. Kigurumi are a great way of making that happen, and we have some costume ideas for couples and groups you (ideas below)!

WHAT ARE KIGURUMI?

What are Kigurumi? Kigurumi animal onesies for adults first hit the scene in Japan in the late 1990’s. They were created by a company called SAZAC. Kigurumi onesies quickly became a staple of fashion culture and has remained an iconic part of Japanese street style since then. Despite this huge popularity, Kigurumi onesies remained very much unknown to the countries of the Western world until about 2011.

It’s not just animal onesies for adults, either. There are also character onesies for adults, animal onesies for kids, and character onesies for kids. Some styles are more popular among a specific demographic, like animal onesies for women or animal onesies for men, but most people just think they’re cute animal onesies for all.

COSPLAY FOR EVERYONE

Cosplayers are natural kigurumi wearers! Who doesn’t love the fantasy aspect of becoming their favorite character or favorite animal in a fun and playful way?! It’s like wearing a stuffed animal. When you put on a Kigurumi, you instantly become more huggable. Kigurumi make for super quick and easy cosplay if you’re hitting up a convention last-minute, or just hanging out with some cosplayer friends and need a quick-fix costume idea.
