Choosing a crib for your baby is something parents put a lot of thought into, and for good reason! Your child is going to spend a lot of time in their first bed, and if you plan accordingly, it could grow with them as they graduate from one bed to the next. This Babyletto crib review will show you how the Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib makes that transition easy as well as beautiful.

Babyletto Hudson is a modern designed crib that will make a beautiful focal point in any nursery. This crib will grow with your child through toddler years, and even comes with the toddler safety rail when purchasing the crib! This is a huge bonus since most convertible cribs require this item to be purchased in addition to the crib. Even though the Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib may be a little pricier than other cribs, it comes with everything you need!

Safety First

Babyletto’s top priority is your child’s safety! Their cribs are made from eco-friendly, non-toxic materials backed with Greenguard gold certification. This means they are screened for over 10,000 chemicals and certified as low-emitting and healthy for the indoor environment. Cribs are also finished in the non-toxic multi-step painting process, without lead, phthalate, and other toxic chemicals.

Babyletto goes above and beyond for safety measures, creating their own rigorous quality control program to stay ahead of industry standards. For example, spaces between slats are carefully placed 2″ apart, rather than just the prescribed maximum of 2 3/8 inches. All their products are sent to a 3rd party CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) certified lab for testing to ensure compliance with ASTM standards (American Society for Testing and Materials).

And to ensure their products continue to adhere to all guidelines, they retest 25% of their full-size crib models every quarter! They are on top of it to say the least. Babyletto recommends that when your child begins to climb or reaches 35″ tall, it’s time to stop using the full size cribs and convert to the toddler bed.

Beautiful Design

The first thing you’ll notice about this crib is its beautiful modern design with clean lines and rounded spindles, giving it a retro throwback. The Hudson’s open design allows you to see the baby from different angles while also making the crib light and airy. Its solid wood construction makes this crib sturdy and safe.

Babyletto thoughtfully made this crib with non-toxic paint in a variety of colors. The adjustable mattress support has 4 different levels for babies as they grow. Because of Hudson’s modern mid-century design and wide color selection, you will likely want to pair it with other Babyletto furniture. It matches with the Hudson dresser changer and Hudson 6-drawer assembled double dresser perfectly. With baby furniture this beautiful, you won’t need to cycle through new furniture every couple years as they mature.

Lower Profile for Short Parents

It is very difficult to put a sleeping baby in a crib that forces you to awkwardly raise the baby higher than you can hold them comfortably. Low-profile cribs are greatly appreciated amongst shorter parents. No more struggling to put a sleeping baby gently over that front rail and then reaching way down low to place them on the mattress.

The Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib has shorter legs, not lower side rails, making this process no act of gymnastics. At 35” high, this crib is a good 6-10” shorter than most cribs. Depending on the height of the parent, this measurement may be a pro or a con. If you are a petite parent, this low profile crib is a great find!

Convertibility

One of the best things we’ve learned in this Babyletto crib review about the Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 Convertible crib is that this piece of furniture will grow with your child! When your child outgrows the baby crib, you can easily transform the crib into a toddler bed. You don’t have to make any additional purchase since the toddler guardrail was included with the purchase of the crib. Later you can remove the guardrail and transform Hudson into a daybed. As noted above, Babyletto recommends to stop using their full size cribs and convert to the toddler bed when your child begins to climb or reaches 35″ tall.

Pro Tip: Turn your Hudson 3-in-1 Convertible crib into a junior sized bed with the purchase of the junior bed conversion kit.

Assembling

Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib is simple to set up as long as you follow the detailed instructions. The assembly instructions are simple and concise with detailed pictures. You will need two people for this job. For assembly, use the Allen wrench if it is included in the hardware box. They also recommend using a Phillips head screwdriver (not included) to complete assembly.

Mattress

This Babyletto crib review would not be complete without discussing the mattress. The crib mattress is not included. That would be amazing though! You can use any standard size baby mattress of your choice. Babyletto recommends the Pure Core non-toxic crib mattress with Hybrid Waterproof Cover, which is a perfect fit. The mattress sits on the metal spring support, which enables better air circulation and makes reliable support. With four different positions, your baby can transition easily from infant all the way to the lowest position for toddlers in this crib.

Price

One of the best parts about this crib is the cost. It is reasonably priced at $399! We think that’s a great deal since it grows with your child and will last for several years! With its timeless design it won’t soon go out of style, so there will be no need to purchase another sleep solution for your child.
