Affordable shopping app Temu, a recent Google Play Editor’s Choice recipient, has expanded to the UK and Europe, offering savvy shoppers a new platform to bag quality bargains. Launched in September 2022 in Boston, Temu (pronounced tee-moo) has garnered attention from bargain hunters seeking quality products at low prices.

Since its inception, Temu has made waves in the e-commerce sector, with its app being downloaded 33 million times, according to Sensor Tower. The company got a further boost in public awareness after it advertised during the Super Bowl in February, reaching a total viewership of 113 million.

Seema Shah, senior director of investor research at Sensor Tower, said, “Shopping apps such as Temu offer incredible in-app deals for consumers, which are more relevant than ever as macroeconomic conditions have become increasingly constrained amidst rising inflation.”

Temu’s focus on affordability and variety has driven its success in the US market and beyond, and the company’s recent expansion into Europe underscores its commitment to catering to the diverse needs of consumers across different demographic and interest groups.

“When I see something I do like, I check with Temu to see what they charge for the same item and then read their reviews,” said Cliff C., a Temu customer who left a five-star review on Sitejabber. “ I’ve always saved at least 50%.”

This approach allows the platform to offer a broad range of products tailored to consumers’ needs, further fuelling its growth and popularity.
