Dr. Antonio Gargiulo of Brigham and Women’s Hospital discusses the difference between a hysterectomy and myomectomy. He says in a woman of reproductive age, unless she has cancer, hysterectomy is not even the option. But we still see practitioners recommend young women of reproductive age who wish to have more children or even their first child, to have hysterectomy. That should never happen. Second, standard care is open myomectomy.
