 by: Sajid Latif

Thomson Sport has been appointed one of the official tour operators for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, enabling it to sell travel packages including match tickets.

The football championships kick off in Johannesburg on June 11 and matches will be played in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Manguang/Bloemfontein, Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Rustenburg and Tshwane/Pretoria.

The final will take place on July 11, also in Johannesburg.

Thomson Sport, part of the travel giant Tui, has also been appointed as the official overseas travel supplier to England fans, the Official England Supporters Club. It provides tailor-made travel packages for all overseas away matches, including the 2010 World Cup.

Football fans are reminded not to forget to buy travel insurance once they have booked their package to South Africa. Fourteen days cover is available from insurewithease from just £12.34 per person.

Details of World Cup packages and prices are not yet available, but fans will shortly be able to register their interest for the priority booking periods for the South Africa packages on the Thomson sport website.

With England looking certain to qualify, early registration is advised.
