Relationships Technology
The notion that there can be a technology of relationships basically contradicts what we all know aboout relationships. I don’t mean education about relationships; it’s not an arena where book-learning seems to have much relevance. This is a technology where you learn by waking up to different ideas and then observing them in your own life, trying them out and testing what works and what doesn't work. For example, take a few minutes and rate your relationships, just for yourself, using 1 for low and 5 for high. Relationships Assessment Loved one 1 2 3 4 5 Family 1 2 3 4 5 Work 1 2 3 4 5 Friends 1 2 3 4 5 “Church/Spiritual” 1 2 3 4 5 Community 1 2 3 4 5 Other 1 2 3 4 5 Here’s some of what I mean: You have a different sense of your relationships with different groups. Why? Are you a different person? Maybe you are. What do you think makes the difference? What would happen if you subdivide the groups even more? For example peers, employees and ‘superiors’ or nuclear family and other relatives. Would it be worth it if you can move your scores up? Is it possible? How could you do that?
