If you are going to get involved with online dating, please be aware of your surroundings.

Be aware of who you are spending “time” with.

A lot of people are just too trusting! As soon as they receive an email from an “interested” person, they are ready to pour their heart and soul out!

Online danger, usually results from giving the wrong person too much information.

Always remember:

1. You are dealing with total strangers.
2. Keep the initial online “conversations” restricted to simple, basic information.
3. Only give your first name. A hacker and a stalker can do a lot with a first and last name. (Most sites automatically post your City and State.)
4. Tell the “type” of work you do, not the company you work for.
5. You can tell the make of your car, but not the model/type and color. If there are vanity plates, or custom artwork? Keep it to yourself!

At this point, you must think I am seriously paranoid! Let’s say you choose to ignore points 3, 4, and 5.

From your company name (4) they can find the exact location of your job. From your first and last name (3) they can call and see if you are working on a particular day. Now, they can find your car, the one with the vanity plates (IM THE1) in the parking lot (5), and based on the photo you’ve posted, they are sure they have “you”, and can follow you home. You don’t know who they are, because they lied about their appearance and their car. Do you still think I am too paranoid?

One of the main online hazards is the person that constantly asks questions, and gets a little annoyed if you are not immediately forthcoming. That is Trouble...with a capital “T”!

I love the concept of online dating...and I swear that it is my #1 choice when it comes to dating. Just be aware of the online dating hazards, and you will be able to have more fun than you can handle!
