Protect Me Too!
 by: Sharon Lepine

Car dog seats for smaller dogs, dog safety belts, dog seat harnesses, dog carriers and pet vehicle barriers are essential to safe vehicle travel. Whether you are travelling across town or across the country, your canine Buddy loves to go along too! But a day of fun and frolic, could turn into sorrow at worst and inconvenience and expense at the least if steps are not taken to provide safety and protection for your pet.

Imagine the potential danger of travelling along at 60 mph with your 60 lbs pal riding shotgun in the front seat, and maybe for a real treat with his head out the window. Suddenly, the car in front of you slams on its brakes and you in turn slam on yours. You are fine, you’re wearing your seat belt which holds you securely in your seat, but what happens to Buddy? Did he slam his head into the windshield or was he trapped in the side window by his neck as he was catapulted off the seat. Also your ability to focus during this intense and dangerous situation could be severely hampered by the distraction of your panicking animal and your concern for his safety. In the event that you should be involved in an accident, your possibly injured and definitely panicked pet could be a threat to the EMS teams and even inhibit their ability to treat you, as your Buddy could feel threaten, confused and even trying to protect you. There are additional dangers of your unrestrained pet causing a distraction while you are driving, or escaping the vehicle and causing a collision on the road. These are not pleasant scenario’s to think about but are all too real.

Having your dog roaming freely in your vehicle is extremely dangerous to him and to you. Just as you would not drive around with your children unrestrained, you should not travel with your pet unrestrained. Don’t let that jaunt to do errands, a trip across town or dream vacation turn into a nightmare, when the use of these readily available products such as car seats for smaller dogs, dog safety belts, dog seat harnesses, dog carriers or vehicle barriers would keep your pal confined to his seat or the rear of the vehicle. These simple and easy to use measures of prevention would provide the safety and protection that you and your Buddy need.

Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
