Filipino Folk material can be seen as 7 basic life principles: the 7 Words. Identity is first, where the central story can be put most simply as: who am I? Usually the vast majority of us need to become clear about things we would like. This applies to all things, from what is useful to dealing with distressing emotions. The problem is to know how to achieve a clear mind and then to find the solutions to whatever problems we have to deal with. The 7 Words System offers a easy insightful procedure that makes it possible for us to reach a greatly improved knowledge of what it is that we are looking for. This opens with the word No. In the beginning we have to identify faithfully what we don't want, what is not useful, before we can know what we do want.

Second, the quest for knowledge, reaching out beyond the horizons of habit to meet new people, new ideas and new ways to see the world. The following phase concerns the word Hello. We will certainly need to open up to new possibilities if we expect to expand our variety of solutions to any predicaments we get into. Is that reasonably logical? To get something different we will need to extend our perspectives and look where we have not previously looked earlier. Fresh ideas, new contacts , new places and new things are all facets of giving reflection to something we have not previously experienced. It calls us to exchange old for new, that can tender something in reasonable return for what are trying to obtain for ourselves.

Then love. Romantic love between woman and man is favourite, yet the importance of family, village, nation and humanity itself also shows acts of kindness. Among all existing opportunities, some are more desirable than others and we give them a higher value, because we appreciate them more. This is explained by the primary word Thanks. Over and over again, we overlook the worth of what we have, slip into ungratefulness and are likely to presume things will always be the way they have been before. It's more than just politeness to demonstrate our appreciation for things we regard as valuable; it has a significant effect in helping us to reach our ambitions. Psychologically we are magnetized to what we communicate gratitude for, and yet it's equally valid to say that we can to draw them to us too. We build up our pull when we say Thanks and therefore, when we do so, we naturally bring things to us.

The Hero’s quest. The brave young man goes forward to take on challenges, either external or internal. The defeating of evil is a metaphor for the battle of light and darkness within one’s own heart. The word Goodbye is one of the seven primary words and relates to a procedure having 4 clearly defined phases. They are: realization, decision, completion and moving on. What we are saying goodbye to a particular stage of change, so is distinguished in simple terms as out-and-out eradication of a viable course of action that we had been moving towards and in future will not engage in. It is a crossroad point in our choice of possible futures.Goodbye is different from No in that it suggests that there has been a degree of some level of connection already, which now needs to end contrasted with No's negation in the first place. Firm decisions cut the past away unconditionally and that penetrating quality creates an opportunity that otherwise does not come to exist.

Vision Quest. The seeker needs to find answers to deep issues of concern that expand power and wisdom. The future unfolds according to the routines of the past unless we take control of it and bend it to our aspirations. To do this compels us to have a vision of how we want it to be; this vision has to be very clear, precise and positive transformed into intention. They differ don't they - vision and intention? The first is to some extent dreamlike and the second is much more centered and deliberate. For a dream to become real there must be help. Nothing can be done without attaining the assistance of others - this takes talent, doubtless persuasion, even encouragement. It is not always vital to proffer something such as money or money's worth.

Another theme that appears in song, myth and epic is redemption. Each of us, yearns to be released from the pain of guilt and shame, and purified through atonement. Sorry, the sixth word, is best seen as repairing harm done whenever we've been inattentive or unmindful to the needs or wants of another. The best idea is to make sure we forestall the need to say it by being understanding earlier. Why? Well it's because anyone we upset may well act against our better purposes and reduce our odds of success, so it is simply more sensible to think of others as well as ourselves. It is all about being responsible, having a degree of feelings for someone whom we've upset and making recompense when we've done wrong. Then and only then is it feasible to avoid or heal offense and leave go of the everlasting unpleasantness that otherwise would strengthen and fester.

The final journey is the quest for the absolute. This can take the form of spiritual ascendancy, seclusion, surrender and death, a final acknowledgement of the unity of all life. The closing stage of our 7 Words technique is to do with acceptance; there are circumstances when we simply have to tolerate what we cannot change. The word is Yes. It would be perfect wouldn't it if we were able to make the world exactly the way we envision it - but in fact we can't. We always need to swallow what comes, and to take what is not exactly what we asked for. The greatest habit is to have an expectation that everything in the long run turns around to our advantage, that the modifications to our plans are all improvements when considered in the perspective of the longer term. Unquestionably it's not easy to see it when we are still close and attached to our desires of course not! In spite of that hold your horses and you may well see that the surprising happenings, the surprises and setbacks are actually the best bits veiled as misfortune.
