Free Power! The Sun Is There, Use It
 by: Pat Herron

Solar energy is the most abundant source of power on Earth. It falls from the sky on everyone and everything, providing energy to grow our food, heat the oceans and power the atmosphere to create our winds. So why shouldn't you take advantage of this free energy and put it to work producing electricity to heat your home?

It is possible to harness electrical energy from the sun using solar panels consisting of photovoltaic cells that convert solar energy into electricity. When you use this renewable energy with solar technology at home you can save yourself major money each year on your power bill. Coupled with a power converter and storage system such as batteries, you can use this power in your home, even selling excess power that you produce to the utilities through net metering. Passive solar systems such as thermal heating can be used to heat water for bathing, laundry and heating your home.

If you have the money to invest in one of the commercial, professionally installed system available in your area, by all means do it and reap the benefits of solar power. But with the newer more advanced renewable energy technology available, you can make a rewarding DIY project the whole family can be involved in. Imagine what you can teach your children about energy use and how to care for the environment. When they produce their own power, they see what happens by not turning off lights or the TV at night.

With DIY solar power kits and information available on the Internet you can build and install your own solar panel system while saving huge amounts of money. The web sites available offer step-by-step instructions how you can create your own solar power system and tie it into the power grid.

Solar cell technology is growing daily. Solar cells have changed from giant roof panels to thin layers of film that are twice as efficient and work with less sunlight. There are now solar powered chargers for cell phones, batteries and other small household items. Solar technology can be seen on today's highways atop road signs supplying the power needed to light them, or augmenting more traditional sources.

Take advantage of this free falling energy source and start enjoying the savings by reducing your electricity bill up to 80% while adding value to your property. Reduce your reliance on the traditional forms of dirty energy such as coal, natural gas and nuclear technology. Do your part to end global warming by reducing greenhouse emissions and lowering your carbon footprint by investing in the Sun as it falls on your home. Soalar power is free, why not use it?
