Solving Sudoku Easily
 by: Carol Smith

Sudoku is a new trend in brain games. There are two types of people when it comes to Sudoku: those who look at the puzzle and know exactly what to do and those who are overwhelmed with the complexities of the puzzles themselves. The truth to Sudoku is that you don’t have to be a genius to play this exciting numbers game. You simply have to know what you are doing. Warning: Sudoku is addictive.

Sudoku’s eighty-one square grid makes it look more complicated than it really is. The grid really breaks down to smaller nine square grids. There are nine of these grids altogether. There are nine squares horizontal and nine squares vertical.

The game consists of the numbers 1 through 9. The player puts the numbers 1 through 9 in each of the squares. The player may not put the same number more than once in the small grid or on the horizontal line or vertical line. If you have two of the same numbers on the same grid or line than you have to start over again.

When you are first learning how to play Sudoku, play in pencil and have a big eraser nearby. You are going to need it.

Start by looking over your puzzle. Some of the eighty-one squares have been filled in for you. Start by checking each of the nine smaller grids. Some of the numbers may be easy to fit in by the numbers already given.
