Ideas for Scrapbooking from Nature
 by: Tom White

Would you believe that you could do an entire scrapbook from what you find in nature? What many people tend to forget in our high tech world of today is that you do not need to spend tons of money at a store to get really great materials for your scrapbook. From specialized layouts to online templates, all too often we find ourselves looking for the easiest route when it comes to keeping our memories alive. Here are some great ideas for scrapbooking that come right out of the environment you live in.

First of all, if you have a lovely set of pictures you want to put in a scrapbook you should look to flowers as a way to liven up your space. It is very easy to go out and pick a few of your favorites and have them dried and pressed in no time. In fact, the best way to do this would be to place the flowers you have chosen between two layers of cellophane and then place them between the pages of a very heavy book, or even between two pieces of heavy wood. You will find that this is one of the best scrapbooking tips when it comes to decorating your page.

However, why stop at flowers. You will find that when you are doing such projects like a thanksgiving or even wedding scrapbook that dried fall leaves make the most colorful and beautiful displays. But if you want to keep those rich colors in tact you will need to use a bit of wax paper and your hot iron. And for this you will only need to place the leaf between two pieces of the wax paper, and then on a low heat setting you will want to press it. What this does is seal in the leaf so that the color will be sealed in as well. Then it is as simple as cutting off the excess paper around the leaf.

You will find that it is scrapbooking tips like these that not only make your book genuine and unique, but also will give you a most excellent scrapbooking experience. But let’s not stop there. If you really want to have an experience of a lifetime you will take your children into the woods to gather your materials for the ultimate scrapbooking project. With such things like large scraps of bark for your paper and other flora and fauna to place on it, you can create an entire scrapbook from nature. What’s more, with today’s technology you can even scan that into your computer to share with the rest of the digital scrapbooking community.

So the next time you are strapped for good ideas for scrapbooking then why not take a walk outside your home. And as mentioned above, this would give you the perfect excuse to involve your children in a much loved pastime. You will find that your children not only enjoy the time with you, but they can also walk away with much needed skills for when they have a family of their own.
