How to Choose the Right Type of Exercise For Your Lifestyle
 by: Sean Jordan

You know that you have to be physically active in order to stay healthy. It has been proven that people who exercise are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases as well as from cancer. So, you have to start working out.

You have to exercise frequently and systematically. The first thing that you have to do is choose the right type of physical activity for you. You need to base your decision on a number of important criteria in order to make the best possible choice.

The main factor that will determine the type of workout you need is your physical condition. It is best for you to have a medical check before you start exercising seriously. Most healthy individuals can readily do all types of cardio exercises safely as long as they increase the intensity of their workouts gradually. Weight and strength training, on the other hand, require a more serious preparation for the body. They may not be suitable for the elderly as well as for people who have problems with their heart, joints or bones.

The time you have for exercising is another factor you have to take into consideration. Working out in the gym three to five times a week might not suit your schedule, but this does not mean that you have to give up on being physically active. You can choose a more intensive and time consuming sport such as hiking or sailing that you can practice over the weekend. If you literally live in your office, you can do your exercises there. You can easily do some crunches, sit up and push ups. You can also get a mini exercising machine.

The budget is another essential factor that will determine the right type of exercise for you. You might not be able to afford to sign up at a fancy gym or buy the latest equipment for your home. However, there are plenty of workout plans that require little or no investment. You can jog in the local park as long as you have trainers. You can take a mat and do yoga at home. You will surely find plenty of free yoga guides online.

Last, but not least you have to base your choice of exercise on your character. Some people prefer team play or sociable exercising classes while others prefer to workout individually. You might need a challenge such as a sports competition in order to train seriously.
