Why Folks Choose Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Because...
Before we got to conical burr coffee grinder, let us take a quick overview where the word conical comes from. Well, there are two types of burr grinders: Conical Burr and Wheel Burr (flat-Plate) .Conical burr is more popular and more people would recommended to grind a coffee beans using it. Allow me to compare the two to see the difference and why conical burr coffee grind is better. Wheel Burr or Flat-Plate are less expensive than conical burr grinders. The burrs are plate-shaped and lie atop each other. The grinding burrs spin very fast (10,000 to 20,000 rpm), and create a grind well-suited for use in an espresso machine. Wheel burr grinders are nosier and sometimes messier than conical burr grinders, and they can create a bit more warmth in the ground coffee and a possibility to loss the aroma. Conical Burr Grinders preserve the most aroma of the coffee. It is a better way to grind and can do very fine and very consistent. The intricate design of the steel burrs allow a high gear reduction to slow down the grinding speed. The slower the speed the less heat is imparted to the ground coffee thus preserving maximum amount of aroma. The better Conical Burr Grinders can also grind extra fine for the preparation of Turkish coffee. With an intricate design of the steel burrs and high gear ratio, the speed of the burrs can be reduced to below 500 rpm. Most burr grinders also have up to 16 precision settings—from very coarse for French press brewing to extra fine for espresso or Turkish coffee. Because of the wide range of grind settings these grinders are ideal for all kinds of coffee equipment, Espresso, Drip, Percolators, French Press. Thus, in my opinion, the conical burr grinder is the most ideal type of coffee grinder for those that love the flavor in their gourmet coffee. Sure, it is slightly more costly, but it is still better to pay for a delicious a cup of coffee with a satisfying taste than to drink a so-so quality at a cheaper price right?
