The Amazing Journey of MOMO Corse
 by: Alexus Devon

MOMO has set a live example of how high level of creativity, imagination and entrepreneurship could help a small business expand and conquer international markets within an amazingly short span of time. It also tells the story of how passion and emotion, if directed properly, can come out with mind-blowing result. Such a dramatic history MOMO Corse has!

A political science student at the University of Pavia, who also happens to be an amateur racing driver, got a friend to make a very special type of steering-wheels for his racing car. The tyre he made was smaller than the usual ones. But what was most unique about it was the handgrip; a very large handgrip that allowed a much better hold, making the car easier to handle and drive.

It took little time for this odd steering wheel to attract the attention of many racing car drivers. Celebrity driver like John Surtees of Ferrari was also amazed by the wheels and gave them a try on his single-seat Formula One race car. Surprisingly, on that year he came out to be the winner of the F1 championship. Thus, the emotion of a friend and the passion of a promising youth set the pedestal for MOMO Corse.

In course of time the company diversified its attention and brought variety in steering-wheels production. Initially it confined its sales of the steering wheel to the racing world, but very soon began it widened its horizons. Not only it diversified its production but also broadened its steering-wheel range. It started to produce light-alloy road wheels, an accessory to which MOMO Corse attached new concepts of marketing and design.

The journey of this Italian company continued to roll on, especially in the wheel sector, which began to be a pulling force. With the formation of MOMO CORSE in 1993, the company started to design and produce hi-tech racing accessories. Soon it embarked on importing the best of the world's racing fittings, a tradition that is going on in full swing even today.
